【摘要】:ThisBritishStandardgivesguidanceonthedesignandpreparationofuserdocumentationforapplicationsoftware.Applicationsoftwareissoftwaredesignedtohelpusersperformparticulartasksortohandleparticulartypesofproblemasdistinctfromsoftwarethatcontrolsthecomputersystemitself.ForthepurposesofthisBritishStandard,applicationsoftwareincludes:-consumersoftwarepackages,thatis,softwareproductsdesignedandsoldtocarryoutidentifiedfunctions,wherethesoftwareanditsassociateddocumentationarepackagedforsaleasaunit;-softwareforofficeapplicationssuchaswordprocessing,spreadsheets,databasesandelectronicmail;-businesssoftware,forexample,softwareforrecordingandmonitoringbusinessactivitiessuchasstockcontrolandprocessingorders;-specialistsoftwareforusebyprofessionals,suchasaccountingsystems,graphicdesignsystemsandengineeringdesignsystems.ForthepurposesofthisBritishStandard,applicationsoftwaredoesnotinclude:-softwareengineeringproductsforusebycomputerprofessionals;-softwareforprogrammableelectronicormechanicalsystems;-medicalsystemsandmanufacturingsystemsthatrequirespecialsafety-relateddocumentation.ThisBritishStandardgivesguidanceoftwotypesandisstructuredtoreflectthis.a)Guidanceonprocessisgiveninsections2to8.Section2givesanoverviewofthedesignanddevelopmentprocess.Sections3to8covertheseparatestagesandcanbereferredtowhenthestagesarebeingcarriedout.TherearechecklistsinannexBwhichcanbeusedtocheckandrecordprogress.b)Guidanceondetaileddesignisgiveninsections9to14.Sections9to13coverthecontent,structure,style,techniqueandpresentationofdocuments.Section14coverscontentslistsandindexes.Duringeachstage,thedetaileddesignsectionscanbeusedasreferencematerial.ThisBritishStandardtakesaccountofthefactthatsomeofthedocumentationwillbeprovidedbythesoftwareitself,possiblyason-screendisplays.Itdescribeshowtoestablishwhatinformationusersneed,howtodecidewhichinformationshouldbeprovidedonpaper,andhowtopreparedocumentationcontainingthatinformation.Itdoesnotcoverthedesignandpreparationofthesoftware'sscreendisplays,norofotheron-linedocumentation.
